Key words:Regular inspection and leak detection of conventional valves

Regular inspections are at the heart of any preventive maintenance program. Valves at high or extreme temperatures should be inspected on a weekly or monthly basis, and valves that are not too tight should be inspected every six months or annually. Look for cracks and other faults in the valve housing and check the sealing nut and other hardware to make sure everything is tight. If possible, turn the valves to make sure they are not drawn from mineral or rust deposits.

Leak detection should be another part of the regular periodic inspection valve procedure. For valves that handle water, acids and other liquids, leaks are often easier to spot. In particular, explosion-proof electric valves, even if there is no visible humidity, leakage failure, should also pay attention to the signs of mineral accumulation or corrosion appearing on the valve casing after one or two weeks of use.

Valves that handle compressed air, refrigerants and other gases can be inspected with a simple mixture of soap and water. This mixture was sprayed onto the valve to observe the formation of bubbles. Another option is to use an electronic leak detector. These devices are more effective than the soapy water method for two reasons: they reduce the risk of errors and can detect small leaks.
